Our 5 Point Guide to a Successful Real Estate Career!

Rome was not built in a day. Ever heard that one mate?
If you are young, ambitious, talented and want to explore a career in Real Estate, this post is for you. As always, with our deepening understanding of your short attention spans, thanks to amazing youngsters in our team, we will keep this one tight and to the point.

#1. You may be special but only time will tell

Your parents have worked very hard and for very long to reach where they did. This made them try and make life extremely easy for you. They went through some major s***. So they did everything they could that it was easy sailing for you. You had what you wanted, mostly, and lack of resources never pushed you to try something out of the box. Resources after all were always at an arm's length from you. In reality, this lack of struggle has left you far from being special.

Various researches conducted in developed nations have shown that young individuals like yourself almost always believe that they are special and better among their peers. However, when asked why they think so, no clear answer ever emerged. Get it? Get Real.

As you start your career in Real Estate, please know that there is nothing special about you, YET! As you work hard, learn new stuff for many years to come, a special trait in you will/ may emerge. Put in the hard work first.

#2. You can keep dreaming but get your feet wet first

There is an old saying. No one ever crossed the ocean by standing and staring at it. Those guys only wrote the poems. Stop staring at the industry to find a star trek like time hole to appear for you and absorb you in. Stop waiting for a manager's job just because you think you deserve it. You don't.

Get your feet wet. Identify a good real estate firm and join up. Your career, the future and your growth will all fall in place with time. Most famous entrepreneurs of today were not much when they were 20, you know. Crank it up. Get started.

#3. You have new ideas but listen to your seniors carefully

When your brand new boss tells you to do something in a particular way, don't write him off as a talking fossil. Your boss survived, prospered and grew old in the real estate industry because she/ he was fit enough for it. Respect that. It will save you immense frustration, double working and antacid money.

Perfect your boss's way first. Better it second.

#4. Ignore others, especially what they say on Facebook and other Social Websites

Happy Facebook posts, shares and inflated accounts of personal success on social media websites should not tell you an unreal story about your friends and colleagues. The grass is greener on the other side. Always. Thanks to social media now and the mere green grass has transformed into lush green rain forests teeming with life and laughter.

Don't worry. All those seemingly happy people have a lot of sad stories that they will not share on Facebook. Just like you. But all of them are as unhappy, unsure and insecure about their lives as you are. So relax and focus on the Real Estate assignment you have on your table.

#5. Materialism, homes, investments, fast cars and happiness

The most expensive residential real estate may never really become a home. A person who owns that Q5 may never be seen at the wheel. (What a waste of all that power and precision associated with the driving seat!) That expensive toy you lusted and took an advance to purchase feels like paperweight just 6 months from the day of purchase. All that glitters is not gold.

Happiness has numerous sources. One of them is achieving something after a lot of hard work. Because after a lot of sweat and blood, what you have is truly and permanently yours. Just like happiness.

Cheers!
