Buying real estate in India? Have questions? Ask your agent or broker freely!
We get these emails sometimes where people ask us various Indian real estate related questions. Some are worth reading and discussing. But most of them are downright funny.
Here are a few gems we have come across. These are way up there on the funny quotient! We are watering them down and removing the exact details. Hope you get the idea. Our thoughts in italics.
1) I have a very posh villa <insert a crazy as hell expensive locality> and I am expecting this <insert double the current rate ongoing in that locality> price. Why am I not finding buyers? Can you suggest a good agent? Its urgent. (The last bit takes the cake away)
- We are speechless!
2) What is the best way to get a discount out from the builder?
- We would be rich if we knew!
3) Why is my home loan institution asking me so many questions and why are all these details necessary?
- You know what happened in the USA because the mortgage guys did not ask questions at all?
4) I am <insert important sounding name> and I have a very complicated property related situation but I cannot give you much details about it. What should I do?
- Beats the s*** out of us.
5) Will the residents' association/ cooperative society where I am going to the buy my flat allow <insert whatever>?
- Heck! Just walk down to their office and find out. Better still, call them up!
6) Why should I pay the maintenance charges of my flat when I don't stay there? I will not use the water, common services or facilities. I do not even have any garbage to be collected. And I hate swimming pools anyway.
- We guess, you will have to er, pay it. We apologize on behalf of your neighbours as they declined to pay on your behalf. Trust us, we tried our best.
People, when you have a question, no matter how irrelevant it may seem, just ask your real estate agent or broker freely. Make a list of them if you wish. Remember, your property broker has a vested interest in your well being. Unlike the free online consultant! So, you have a question? Ask us. Hehe!
