Due to the intrinsic efficiency of most power plants as well as losses in transmission and distribution in the electricity network, 1kWh of usage in a building requires 3kWh of production: for each energy unit saved in the building we save 3 times as many at production level. 

Now, remember to turn off that switch when you leave the room empty!
