Online real estate classifieds, property search engines, real estate blogs et al are all working towards just one goal. Increasing the number of hits/ visitors/ traffic that comes to their website each day! Some gurus have coined terms like organic traffic, social media traffic and the toilet seat traffic etc. Okay, we made up that last one.

What that effectively does is waste a lot of time, money and bandwidth of your web team. People come back to your website for content. Sadly, SEO and it's monstrous demands will not leave you with much time to build that content.

We got an email this morning about back link building. It was exciting because here was someone who said she wanted to write for Indian Real Estate for Dummies. Wow, we thought. A new author on the blog would be nice. We would learn new stuff and our regular readers would have some more food for thought to chew on, or another cool joke to laugh at.

Here is that email:

The reply from RD came in the next 30 minutes, with an article attached. The article made us grimace. It started nowhere, went everywhere and conveyed nothing. Had we published that, you, our reader would have wondered what suddenly went gone wrong with us. Is the financial crisis eating away our brains too?

#4. Do not worry about keywords, page ranking, hits per day and other mind boggling figures. You do not have to be spend truck loads of money to be noticed by search engines. If you are good at what you do, people will notice you and come back to your website again. That will make the search engines look at you. 

#5. If you need a back link from this website, just write your stuff and email it to us. Remember that you do not have to impress us. You just have to be yourself. We will do the rest.
