Floor tile care for your home

Most residential apartments/ flats/ villas in India now come with a ceramic tiles system for the floors. The living areas are generally high gloss vitrified tiles and the bathrooms are non skid tiles to offer traction in a wet environment.
But how do you keep your floor tiles looking new for a long time? Here are a few effective tips for tile care:
1) If you have high gloss tiles, avoid walking on them with spiked shoes.
2) Clean and sweep your tiles regularly. Vacuuming is a very good way to clean tiles. For stubborn stains, scrub with a mix of bicarbonate of soda and water.
3) Do not use abrasive cleaners!
4) Warm water with vinegar is a very effective cleaner for tiles.
5) Ensure that the tiles are laid evenly. If you find uneven tile laying, have the floor checked up by an expert and raise the issue with the developer before you move in.
6) Use gliders under heavy furniture to avoid the tile surface from being damaged.
7) Avoid dropping heavy objects on the floor. Tiles are not indestructible you see.

Also, a new floor may have some salt deposits or moisture on it, with regular cleaning, this will go away. Follow these tips to have your floor tile system looking like new for a long time.
